Today is World Communion Day. I baked Italian bread and my mom’s Irish soda bread for church. We had over 10 breads from all over the world at our Communion Table this morning. We had songs and scriptures in several languages. It was a beautiful reminder that we are somos uno en Cristo, we’re united in Christ.
My church meets on the campus of the University of Illinois, a 40 min (or so) drive from the farm. My morning chemo pills often cause nausea and today was no exception. I lost my cookies early into the drive. Lucky for me I was still on a county road and I travel with my just-in-case tote. I fixed my makeup and continued on to church. My emotional- support Diet Coke also came in handy. By the time worship was over I felt fairly good and ran some errands before driving home. I’ve gotten really good at hiding side effects.
I share many of my cancer side effects on this blog as a reminder that everyone we meet is dealing with things we cannot see.
Un solo fe, un solo amor. Un solo baptism, Un solo Espiritu, y ese es el Consolador.
We have one faith, only one Love. Just one baptism, one Holy Spirit, one Comforter sent from God above.
(from the song Somos Uno by Frank Colon)
